St. Jones Watershed Tributary Action Team

The St. Jones Watershed's Tributary Action Team is proud to announce our new Rain Barrel Program, and you can click here to download a 211 kb PDF version of our brochure about the program.

With water availability a big concern, rainwater collection should become part of your personal water conservation program.  A rain barrel can be an innovative way for you to capture water from your roof and store it for later use.  The chlorine-free water can be used to water your lawn, irrigate your garden, water indoor plants or wash your car.

You can lower your water bill, conserve well water, and reduce runoff to our streams, lakes, and estuaries.

Our rain barrels are made from recycled food-grade barrels that were used to import foods to the United States, and have been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, then coated with UV polish.  Although the barrels normally cost $100, Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is making them available to residents of the City of Dover and the St. Jones Watershed for $35 through a cost-share program.

A limited number of barrels are available by reservation only.  To reserve yours, please contact the Nonpoint Source Program at 302-739-9922 or email Sharon Webb at sharon.webb@state.de.us.
