Introducing
Cortney Koenig Worrall
Appoquinimink Team Watershed Coordinator
I am
honored and excited about being the watershed coordinator for
the Appoquinimink Tributary Action Team. Having a dedicated
watershed coordinator working for and with the Team will open many
opportunities to make an impact on watershed protection.
I hope that the next few meetings help us build a solid set
of recommendations that I can begin to work on and implement.
You
may be interested in some information about me. Since the
watershed coordinator position is part-time, I am lucky enough
to stay home with my two daughters, ages 2 1/2 and 9 months. My
husband and I moved to Middletown 2 years ago from New York City
where I attended graduate school and received my masters in public
administration. Before meeting my husband, I worked in engineering
consulting in stormwater compliance, public involvement, and
engineering marketing in and around Georgia. I wore many
hats in my previous work, but the work always centered on finding
organizational
and policy-based solutions to environmental and engineering issues.
I developed a number of public involvement programs, giving
me the opportunity to see how public participation plays such an
important role in making decisions at the community level.
I intend
to act as a true coordinator --- facilitating among Appoquinimink
stakeholders and providing the groundwork, leadership,
networking and administrative skills for the implementation of
watershed protection measures and best management practices (BMPs).
It is one of my hopes to remain as neutral as possible in
my role within the Team as watershed coordinator. I will be working
for
the Team, helping the Team, and facilitating with the Team to determine
what BMPs and other strategies can be implemented. I hope
to learn more about you and your interests, so please feel free
to contact
me at anytime. I am very excited about our opportunities!
