The Transformation of the Appoquinimink Tributary Action Team

The Appoquinimink Tributary Action Team has arrived at a moment of significant transformation.  Team members have decided to form a nonprofit organization — an organization whose mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Appoquinimink Watershed and surrounding areas.  Attendance at team meetings has steadily increased and members have volunteered for a public outreach committee and one to explore the contents and overall purpose of the Team's recommended Pollution Control Strategy (PCS).

From now on, team meetings will be held at a regular time and place, on the second Wednesday of each month, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Saint Anne's Episcopal School, 211 Silverlake Road, Middletown.  Our next meeting, Wednesday March 10th, will focus on several important areas of decision making.   The team will decide its name, possible board of director positions, and prioritize projects to be funded under upcoming grant opportunities.

Current projects the Team is working on include coordinating with Middletown High School and Saint Andrew's School on storm water sampling at the Village Brook community in Middletown, developing a new set of brochures, planning for the Peach Festival, and working with the Delaware Nature Society on a Backyard Wildlife Habitat program and possible Stream Watch program in the Appoquinimink Watershed area.  If you have any questions about the Appoquinimink Tributary Action Team or if you would like to be involved, please contact the Team's Watershed Coordinator, Cortney Worrall by e-mail or by phone at (302) 378-8395 or (302) 312-9034.
