Greetings
from the new Watershed Coordinator for the Appoquinimink River
Association, Sara Wozniak!
Being
selected as the new Watershed Coordinator for the Appoquinimink
River Association is both an honor and a privilege for me. Originally
from York, PA, I grew up with a sense of connection to the environment
and the difficulties in its management as I spent my summers working
for a local produce farmer.
My high school graduation in
1998 brought me to Delaware to begin my undergraduate studies at
the University of Delaware. As a double major in Biology
and Political Science, a passion for environmental management led
to my remaining to study towards a Master’s Degree in the
highly respected Energy
and Environmental Policy program.
During my past six years in Delaware, I have learned
a great deal through many real-world experiences. Working with
the University of Delaware’s Water
Resources Agency and Center
for Energy and Environmental Policy, I was able to participate
in many projects that have helped to transform the way the management
of water resources is viewed. Projects involving the Governor’s
Drought Advisory Committee, Water
Supply Coordinating Council,
Delaware Source
Water Protection Program and other countries such
as Germany and South Korea, helped to foster my passion and desire
towards the environmentally conscious management of water resources.
My past has helped to prepare me for today. I am very excited
to be taking on this new role and am looking forward to working
with the dedicated members and board of directors of the Appoquinimink
River Association. I am confident that together we can help
protect the waters of the Appoquinimink River for future generations.
If you have any questions or would like to join the Appoquinimink
River Association, feel free to contact
me by email.
