Inland Bays Pollution Control Strategy Update

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) presented a revised draft of the proposed Inland Bays Pollution Control Strategy to the public in May during a series of three workshops.  The workshops were held in Millsboro on May 12th, Dewey Beach on May 17th and Roxana on May 24th.   Over 170 people participated.

The workshops consisted of the PCS presentation, highlighting the revisions to the draft, followed by break-out sessions consisting of presentations and comment periods for three specific topics within the PCS:

  • buffers
  • septic systems
  • the Nutrient Protocol worksheet tool

Written and verbal comments on all topics were taken during the workshops.

Following the workshops, DNREC accepted public comments on the draft PCS through June 17th.  Currently, the Department is reviewing the comments received and meeting with interested parties in preparation for the next stage of the public process.   Further updates on the status of the PCS will follow in future Tributary Times editions.  For any questions regarding the Inland bays Pollution Control Strategy, please contact Kathy Bunting-Howarth at 302-739-9949 or Lyle Jones at 302-739-4590.
