What Are We Doing?

Tributary Action Team boothOur Tributary Action Teams, are creating a strategy to reduce pollution in each of the state's watersheds. Some teams are further along in this process than others, depending on when and if pollution limits were set. Teams in the Appoquinimink, Broadkill, Inland Bays, Murderkill, Nanticoke, St. Jones, and Upper Chesapeake watersheds are currently active. Other teams will be formed in the near future.

Each active team is engaging citizens in this process --- most of us are holding public forums on water pollution, some are publishing articles in newspapers and some are holding community group meetings. In every case, our goal is to develop broad support for the Pollution Control Strategy designed specifically for each watershed.

We are studying scientific reports, hashing out the issues with our fellow citizens and working toward a set of pollution controls that will improve water quality where we live, work and play.  As part of this process, we worked with several groups around the state to develop a document titled Public Talk -- Real Choices:   A Model for Public Engagement in Creating Pollution Control Strategies, which you can download as a PDF document by clicking on the link.  This discussion of the issues we face, and our approach to solving them.

You can become a part of improving Delaware's water resources.  To check on the specific activities of your local Tributary Action Team, click on the link to your watershed.
